The Futureheads - Heartbreak Song (Edwin van Cleef Remix)

The Futureheads vocals always work well in a club. Disco wizard Edwin Van Cleef recognized this and with his remix of “Heartbeat Song” adds some nice summertime shine and some subtle cowbell to make a very d-floor friendly tune.

Kele - The Boxer

Bloc Party singer/guitarist Kele Okereke will release his first solo album, entitled "The Boxer", on June 22, 2010 on Glassnote Records. Produced by XXXchange (Spank Rock, he Kills), with additional mixing by Philippe Zdar (responsible for Phoenix s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix), The Boxer sees the talented front-man pushing the boundaries of his own melodic sensibilities, embracing pop, rock, and electronic music to boldly step out as a solo artist in his own right.

With the Boxer, Kele has clearly begun an incredible new chapter of his already esteemed career.

The Futureheads - The Chaos

The Futureheads make their return with a bold new sound at a time of uncertainty and confusion for their country and beyond. As the public face collective decisions over their future with very little clarity or guidance, The Futureheads bravely promise renewed hope.

'The Chaos' is the band’s fourth album, and arguably their most riotous to date. The Dead Weather - Die By The Drop

The first single from The Dead Weather’s Sea Of Cowards is kind of a monster, as is its new video. Jack White and Alison Mosshart echo each other’s taunts over the song’s lurching, massive guitar hook. Mosshart always sings as if she’s ready to boil over, but White is singing at full, manic bluster. This video was meant to be equally menacing, but honestly, the video’s stylist made Jack White resemble VH1’s Mystery. White may be the ultimate pick-up artist though. The video was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who most recent did The Runaways movie. She also directed The White Stripes’s “Blue Orchid” video.

The Amplifetes

The Amplifetes are a brand new 4-piece band from Sweden. Being accomplished songwriters & producers on their own, the members have worked with names such as Kelis, Madonna, Grandmaster Flash & Peter Bjorn and John. While having occasionaly crossed paths during the course of their careers, they have existed as a unit for about a year. The band think of themselves as a dreamteam collaboration of their influences – listing 60s Psychadelia, The Electric Light Orchestra, The Ramones, Elvis Costello, David Bowie & Chicago Trax Records House releases.

The highly addictive result can be heard in The Amplifetes debut single “It’s my life”, a spitting image of urban life & a happy three-part marriage between garage pop, electro & punk. It was featured recently in a promo campaign for Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli, starring a lightly dressed Milla Jovovich, creating quite a stir over europe .

UNKLE - Natural Selection!

James Lavelle's UNKLE project has had a few interesting moments, but it's never really recovered after the early departure of Tim Goldsworthy and DJ Shadow. Lavelle spent the last decade working with a revolving door of UK producers and teaming with guest collaborators both high profile (Josh Homme, Brian Eno) and low-impact (The Duke Spirit, South). His latest, Where Did The Night Fall, is scheduled for a May release, and it boasts guest spots from Mark Lanegan and Autolux, among others.

On early album teaser "Natural Selection", Lavelle enlists Texas psych-rockers the Black Angels. The fuzz-drenched production couples well with the Black Angels' swirling drone and dive-bomb guitar lines, adding a sense of aural paranoia UNKLE have often tried for and missed. Where the Black Angels' vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Alex Maas refined his acid-fried whine on his band's 2008's underrated Directions to See a Ghost, here his delivery is hypnotic and bears a British affectation, comparable to Broadcast and Clinic. There's a messy mid-song breakdown here that brings the track crashing to earth, but if nothing else, maybe "Natural Selection" signals a promising new sonic direction for Maas and his Angels.

Interpol have unveiled the first taste of its forthcoming, still untitled fourth studio album - and it's rather good. It's been three years since we've had an original album from the New York indie gods and according to reports, the band have returned to their roots for this record after their less than "cohesive" attempt last time around.

'Lights' takes a while to kick in, but stick with it, because it will blow your mind. As usual, let us know what you think in the comments section.
