Marina Lambrini Diamandis (born 10 October 1985), better known by her stage name Marina and the Diamonds , is a Greek-Welsh singer-songwriter. She rose to fame after reaching number two on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll list, coming second to Ellie Goulding. After releasing one private extended play, Diamandis released her second extended play, The Crown Jewels EP, with help from Neon Gold Records in 2009. Now signed to 679 Recordings, she released her debut full-length studio album, The Family Jewels, followed by her third extended play, The American Jewels EP, in 2010.
Her name, "Marina and the Diamonds", consists of Diamandis' first name and the translation of her surname which means "Diamonds" in Greek. "The Diamonds" is often mistakenly believed to refer to her backing band (similar to Florence and the Machine). However, it in fact refers to Diamandis' fans: she explains this on her MySpace page by saying "I'm Marina. You are the diamonds."
Diamandis' musical style ranges from keyboard-based ballads to more up-tempo new wave-style songs with full band backing. She has cited a wide-range of influences such as Daniel Johnston, Blondie, The Distillers, Patti Smith, Tom Waits, Nirvana, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Yann Tiersen, Britney Spears, Elliott Smith, Dolly Parton and Madonna.
The 2010 album Crystal Castles is the second album from experimental band Crystal Castles. The album's digital release was on April 23, 2010.It is to be released physically on May 24, 2010 via Fiction Records.

"Dog Days Are Over" is the second single released by indie band Florence + the Machinefrom their debut album Lungs which was finally recorded and released well after the single was made available. It was originally scheduled for release on November 24, 2008 through Moshi Moshi Records in the UK but was later pushed back for release on December 1, 2008. A day later on December 2, 2008 the single was released in download and seven inch vinyl format through IAMSOUND Records in the US. The B-side to the single is a cover of "You Got the Love" by The Source featuring Candi Staton which later was confirmed as a track on their debut album and the band's third single. A demo version of the track is featured on disc two of the deluxe edition of Lungs. The song is to be re-released into the UK market on April 11, 2010, accompanied with a new video. When questioned about why there would be a new video she claimed "The original was so cheap ...It was a video camera in a forest, with my dad and Marks & Spencer sandwiches."
"Born Free" is the first leak from the M.I.A.'s upcoming June album. The song is a thrilling, aggressive, hardcore electric anthem and heavily samples "Ghost Rider" by Suicide.
